Since its original introduction in 1963, it has been updated several times, including with the introduction of colour television in March 1975. The line was thickened to feature colour in the logo.
The 1975 logo is the longest-running logo, with a lifespan of 27 years. It was created in October 1974.
In 2001, the ABC's new logo was repainted by Annette Harcus. In this logo, the squiggle now has a 3D silver texture while keeping the "over and under" design of the logo since 1975.
After the on-air revival of the 1974 logo since 2014, the ABC gradually reinstated the classic symbol while using a new logotype in 2018. The change comes with a press release that the ABC released on 12 February announcing a new brand positioning under its tagline, Yours.
